Beyond the Pages: Our Visit with Paul Doiron in Wells
There is something truly special about the connection between a reader, a librarian, and the person who brings those favorite characters to life. Recently, the Chocorua Public Library team took that connection on the road! Our librarian, Shauna, and assistant librarian, Donna, took a trip over the border to the Wells Public Library in Maine for a very exciting occasion: an afternoon with award-winning author Paul Doiron.
For those who haven’t yet discovered his work, Paul Doiron is the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed Mike Bowditch Mystery Series. Set against the rugged, often unforgiving backdrop of the Maine North Woods, these stories follow Mike Bowditch—a Maine Game Warden—as he navigates complex crimes and the deep-seated secrets of the wilderness.
Shauna and Donna had a wonderful time representing our library and chatting with Paul about his writing process, his inspiration for the series, and the life of a Maine Game Warden. It was a fantastic reminder of why we love what we do—bringing stories to our community and occasionally getting to meet the faces behind the pages.
Bring the North Woods Home If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start a new series, this is it! We are thrilled to share that the Chocorua Public Library has the entire Mike Bowditch series currently available on our shelves. Whether you want to start at the very beginning with The Poacher’s Son or you are looking for one of the later titles, we have a copy waiting for you.
Don’t Miss the Next Chapter The excitement doesn’t stop there. Paul’s newest installment is currently on pre-order for our collection. If you want to be among the first to read it when it arrives, stop by the desk and ask Shauna or Donna to add you to the list!
Stop in, say hello to our “traveling librarians,” and grab a thriller for your next cozy night in. Which Mike Bowditch mystery is your personal favorite so far?
