Angels of Addiction Art Show: An Evening of Remembrance, Art, and Community

The Chocorua Public Library, in partnership with the Tamworth Arts Council, invites the community to attend a powerful and meaningful event, the Angels of Addiction Art Show, held in honor of Black Balloon Day. This special evening of art, remembrance, and reflection will take place on Friday, March 6, from 5:00–7:00 PM at Runnells Hall.

Black Balloon Day is observed nationally to honor lives lost to addiction and overdose, raise awareness about the ongoing opioid crisis, and support families and communities affected by substance use disorder. The Angels of Addiction Art Show provides a compassionate space to come together, remember loved ones, and acknowledge the far-reaching impact of addiction.

About the Exhibit

Created by New Hampshire artist Anne Marie Zanfagna after losing her daughter to addiction, Angels of Addiction is a traveling portrait series that honors individuals lost to substance use disorder through vibrant, life-affirming artwork. Each portrait tells a story—reminding us that behind every statistic is a person deeply loved and remembered.

This exhibit invites reflection while also offering hope, connection, and understanding. It serves as both a memorial and a call for compassion, encouraging meaningful conversations around prevention, treatment, recovery, and community support.

Event Highlights

During the evening, guests are invited to explore a curated selection of portraits, engage with local community resource tables, and learn about available support services. Representatives from White Horse Addiction Center and Carroll County Public Health will be present to share information about prevention, treatment, and recovery resources available in our region.

A Wall of Remembrance will also be available, offering attendees the opportunity to share names, messages, or reflections in honor of loved ones affected by addiction. Light refreshments will be served, creating a welcoming environment for quiet conversation and community connection.

A Community Invitation

The Angels of Addiction Art Show reflects the Chocorua Public Library’s ongoing commitment to serving as a space for learning, healing, and community engagement. All are welcome to attend this free event—whether to honor someone lost, learn more about local resources, or stand in solidarity with those affected by addiction.

We encourage community members to join us for this moving evening of remembrance, awareness, and hope.
