Exciting news from the Chocorua Public Library—our Library Director, Shauna, is attending the 2025 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Philadelphia! This nationally recognized event brings together thousands of librarians, educators, publishers, and book enthusiasts from all over the country.
Shauna kicked off her trip with a day of exploring some of Philadelphia’s most iconic historical landmarks. From standing next to the famous Liberty Bell to visiting Betsy Ross’s house and snapping photos in front of Philadelphia City Hall, she embraced the city’s rich history. She also toured the Philadelphia Museum of Art and enjoyed exhibits like the ancient Egyptian sphinx and Asian art collections.
But the real heart of the trip is the ALA Conference itself. Held June 26–30, this event offers professional development sessions, networking opportunities, and sneak peeks at the latest books and resources coming to libraries. Shauna shared, “Having a great time at the ALA Conference in Philly! Excited to bring back fresh ideas and some amazing new books to share.”
Throughout the conference, she’s been attending workshops on community engagement, creative programming, and new trends in literacy. She’s meeting with publishers, authors, and fellow librarians, all with one goal in mind—bringing back knowledge and inspiration to help make the Chocorua Public Library an even better resource for our community.
We’re looking forward to seeing the impact of Shauna’s trip, from new book arrivals to exciting new programs. Stay tuned for updates on all the great ideas she’ll be implementing soon!
