Dig Into Garden Fun at Summer Garden Storytime: Veggie Bingo!
Fresh vegetables, great stories, and hands-on fun are all growing together at this week’s Summer Garden Storytime hosted by the Chocorua Public Library! Families are invited to join us on Wednesday, July 15, from 3:00–4:00 PM at the beautiful KA Brett Gardens Greenhouse Area for another exciting afternoon of reading, learning, and exploring the wonders of the garden. In the event of rain, Storytime will be held at the Chocorua Public Library.
This week’s theme celebrates the delicious vegetables that grow in our gardens and end up on our dinner tables. Through engaging stories and interactive activities, children will discover where their favorite vegetables come from and learn why growing and eating fresh produce is so important.
We’ll be sharing three wonderful books that are perfect for young gardeners:
- The Vegetables We Eat
- Secrets of the Veggie Garden
- The Carrot Seed
These stories encourage curiosity, patience, and an appreciation for the hard work that goes into growing healthy food. From tiny seeds to colorful harvests, children will see how every garden tells its own story.
After Storytime, everyone will have the chance to play Veggie Bingo, a fun and educational game that helps children identify different vegetables while building observation and matching skills. Whether your child already knows the difference between a cucumber and a zucchini or is just beginning to explore the world of gardening, Veggie Bingo is sure to bring plenty of smiles and excitement.
Summer Garden Storytime is designed to inspire a love of reading while encouraging children to connect with nature through hands-on experiences. Each week offers a new opportunity to explore a different part of the garden, making every visit unique and memorable.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair, dress for outdoor fun, and come ready to enjoy an afternoon filled with books, laughter, and fresh garden discoveries. We can’t wait to see returning families and welcome new friends as we continue another wonderful season of Summer Garden Storytime.
